HOW IT ALL STARTED ...

Success always starts with a dream.

So it was with our hero marathon - it all started with a dream -

the dream of a teacher to create opportunities for his students to actually learn to be excellent teachers.

"Even in the complex situation with Kovid-19 in 2021, remote access training should not stop me and dreams should work," said our teacher. "Even more - in such difficult, challenging times ... dreams must be more important even than ourselves!"

So the universe listened to the thoughts of a teacher on a January day in 2021 and elegantly put on the screen a link to a children's book - "My hero is you."

(The universe loves to give us all kinds of gifts and does so all the time, but do we have the senses to notice…?)

At that moment, our teacher realized that a very exciting semester was coming for everyone and that the students would have real opportunities to practice, and even more - to be happy.

In the first lecture in February 2021, held with remote access, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Katya Simeonova presented her idea - we will make dolls of your choice from the characters in the book and meet them with children of primary school age, to talk about Kovid-19 and beyond. To empower children through our heroes and our meetings to meet the challenges and not be afraid, to always remain calm and good, with positive emotions, despite the difficult times for them and their families.

And that was just the beginning ...

The total number of our marathons only in the first year in the period February - April 2021 was 26! We met with different classes in the country and many school, class teachers, teachers, principals. The children gladly received us in their homes or in their classrooms, listened with interest and participated in the conversations with joy. They shared their own experiences with us and revealed their souls to us with their sincere answers.

The second year of our marathon is currently underway. The students who participate in the "Marathon for Heroes" study in the same programs of the University of Veliko Tarnovo "St. St. Cyril and Methodius ”. For us, this is not only a challenge, but also an opportunity to communicate with real students of primary school age. Our scenarios are based much more on UNICEF's second children's book (IASC) "My Hero is You 2", as in the sequel UNICEF focuses not so much on fighting the virus as on the hope of controlling the virus worldwide. plan to restore the balance of thinking and health of children. There is hope in so many different forms!
